I'm hoping to get an approximate date for a Victorian at 2059 San Jose Ave, across from Balboa Park. The owners were told at some point by an older neighbor that the house was the first in the area, apparently the surrounding area being a walnut orchard at the time. I'm needing a feng shui period, namely I'm trying to determine if it was built pre- or post-1884, and unsure because of the aforementioned story. The 2nd floor unit is a typical railroad style flat with bullet medallions on all windows/doors, a marble fireplace mantle etc.. Interesting sort of mansard-type peaked roof with unfinished attic & extra wide lot. Facade was remodled mid-century. At first glance the surrounding buildings appear to be later Victorian through Arts & Crafts area, potentially supporting the tale except this building has the look of a row house, not a farm house to me.. Obviously it may have been converted to flats some time after it was built if the orchard house story is accurate. Any dates or clues are welcome, thanks! :)
