cochrans was on the corner of market st. and golden gate (rear entrance on golden gate). in the 60's cochrans was on the north side of market and the palace was on the same side but 2 blocks east of it. the hustler was shot in aims pool room in new york. I played in both places. in san francisco i walked between cochrans and the palace pool rooms a thousand times. i keep reading that cochrans had 40 tables, that is incorrect. cochrans had 3 six by twelve snooker tables, 5 four and half by nines, 3 five by 10 pool tables and one billiard. i started going to cochrans 2 months after ronnie allen won the onepocket tournament.
