: I just received the page of the death of my gr-grandmother in 1871 in San Francisco - it lists her burial place and it looks like O.F. or T.F. - does anyone know what that means?
: Was that a cemetery that was moved after the 1906 Earthquake?
: Thanks for any help.
In the 1940's most graves were moved to Colma, California. They were moved as the cemeterys had room for them. If family members were still living and wanted to have the headstone moved also ,they were, but if no one came forward, the head stones were dumped into a bulkhead along the highway that runs in front of all the cemeteries. Most of the Cems will look to see if your ancestor was taken in, some require you pay them. I was lucky that Cypress Lawn let me come look at the old records.
Hope you find what you are looking for.
