My Grandfather was Albert Hartmann the owner and proprietor of the Panama Cafe. It was located at 153-155 Mason St, SF. It was known as a first class Restaurant & Grill Room with entertainment every evening. To answer your question We will ask my mother the youngest of Hartmann's children. She is now 91yrs old and lives in Sacramento. She has great memories of the old SF days. We have a picture with entertainers at the Panama Cafe. Possibly your Grandfather is in the photo.
