William A. Toba
William A. Toba of San Rafael died Friday, Dec. 14, 1990, at home.
He was 70.
Mr. Toba was a native of Stockton.
He spent much of his youth in Japan, returning to graduate from Commerce High School in San Francisco.
Along with many other Japanese-Americans, Mr. Toba was interned at Tanforan during World War II and later lived at the Topaz relocation camp.
He moved to Marin County in 1945.
Mr. Toba was self-employed as the proprietor of a landscaping and gardening business. He retired in 1976.
He was a member and past president of the Marin Gardeners Association.
After his retirement, Mr. Toba spent time creating and tending bonsai gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Misayo Toba of San Rafael; two sons, Wayne Toba and Roger Toba, both of San Rafael; and a brother, Mitsuru Toba.
A memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Buddhist Temple of Marin in Mill Valley.
Inurnment will be private.
The family prefers memorial gifts to any local charity.
A paid death notice in the same paper also mention his sister-in-law Akiko Toba.
