Jean D. Galbreath
Jean Dickie Galbreath of Kentfield died Friday, Dec. 14, 1990, at Greenbrae Convalescent Hospital after a short illness. She was 85.
Born and raised in Alameda, she lived in the Bay Area her entire life. She attended San Francisco Normal Teachers College and taught for several years in Berkeley.
She was married to Fred B. Galbreath of Kentfield for 63 years. The couple and their two daughters moved to Kentfield from the East Bay in 1940.
Mrs. Galbreath was involved in community affairs for many years. During World War II, she organized and was captain of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Kentfield Fire Department. She was a member and officer of the Ross Valley Guild Sunny Hills, the Northgate Auxiliary of the Marin Art and Garden Center, and president of the Marin Garden Club from 1965 to 1967.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Galbreath is survived by two daughters, Nancy Johnson of San Rafael and Sue Johnson of Chualar, Monterey County; two sisters, Marian James of Placerville and Evelyn Hinds of South Lake Tahoe; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held.
Contributions are preferred to the Save the Redwoods League, the Marin Garden Club or a charity of choice.
