Mrs. Delia Herbert, Pioneer Mother, Is Dead at 82 Years
Mrs. Delia Herbert, a California pioneer, whose parents came across the plains in covered wagons, died at her home in San Rafael at 82 years of age.
She had made her home in this city for about 15 years, coming here from Biggs, Butte county. The family at first lived in Vacaville, where Mrs. Herbert and her twin sister, Mrs. Loda Parker, of Oakland, were born.
Four daughters, Miss Genevieve Herbert, San Rafael; Mrs. J. J. Mountain, San Rafael; Mrs. M. Trousdale, San Francisco, and Mrs. George Sharon of Dutch Flat, survive.
Mrs. Herbert was a woman of high attainments and education, and up to a few days of her death was vigorous in mind and active.
Funeral service was held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Keaton & Dusel chapel, with interment private.
