Mill Valley Record
Saturday, September 16, 1922
William Sutcliffe passed away Wednesday, Sept. 6, at the County Hospital, where he was taken several weeks ago in order that he might have suitable care.
He has been a member of the business circle of Mill Valley between 10 and 20 years. For some years he held the position of bookkeeper for the former French laundry situated on Blithedale ave.
Little is known of his family, although it is known that he came from the British Isles years ago. He lived a quiet, industrious life, was always strictly honest in his deals, faithful in his work and courteous in manner. He left a small estate.
Mr. Sutcliffe was a member of the Mt. Tamalpais Lodge, I.O.O.F., of Mill Valley, which was in attendance upon the funeral services held in the parlors of F. E. Sawyer Company, San Rafael, Monday, Sept. 11. The ceremonies were conducted by the officers of Marin Lodge, No. 200, of San Rafael.
The casket was deposited in the vault of Mt. Tamalpais Cemtery, pending inquiry as to whether there are relatives to give directions as to the disposal of remains.
