Death of John M. Strong

The news of the death of John M. Strong, a well known and respected citizen of this community, which occurred on Saturday, caused the heads of his many friends and the lodge of Elks of which he was a prominent member, to be bowed in grief. While death was expected, as the deceased had been ailing for about two months with typhoid malaria, nevertheless it came as a great shock.

John M. Strong was a native of Chicago and had just passed his 41st birthday. For the past few years he has been employed as head bookkeeper for the firm of Jensen & Schlosser but was forced on account of illness to give up his position. The deceased is survived by a wife and child, who had the sympathy of the entire community.

The funeral services were held on Wednesday morning from the Elks Hall and were conducted by that order. The deceased was also a member of the Woodmen, who were also present in a body at the services. At 10:27 the remains were taken to Union Depot and from there to San Francisco, thence by car to Odd Fellows Cemetery, where they were incinerated.
