Shirley Ann Cummesky
Former San Rafael resident

Shirley Ann Cummesky of Rohnert Park died Jan. 10 at the age of 72.

She was born in McLeansboro, Ill., in 1926.

Ms. Cummesky graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in St. Louis.

She moved to Marin in 1944 and married San Rafael native Earl Cummesky, a deputy in the Marin County Sheriff’s Department, in 1950 at St. Raphael’s Church.

Ms. Cummesky worked as a waitress at King Cotton, Rubini’s, San Rafael Joe’s and Alvarado Inn in Novato.

She enjoyed knitting and bingo and after retiring to Sonoma County in 1978 was involved in St. Elizabeth Seton’s Catholic Church in Rohnert Park for 20 years.

She is survived by her children, John Michael Cummesky of Isleton, Earl Robert (Bob) Cummesky of Rohnert Park, James P. Cummesky of Fairfax, Maureen Andrews of Cedar Grove, Tenn., and Paul E. Cummesky of Rohnert Park; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Bobbie Nielson of Murietta.

A memorial Mass will be at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 4596 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park, at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Elizabeth Seton Building Fund.
