Death Claims Pioneer Woman of San Rafael
Miss Anna Cochrane, One of the Best Known Residents of City Passes Away

Miss Ann Cochrane, a resident of San Rafael for many years, died this morning after a short illness. Taking suddenly ill Sunday she was rushed to a hospital where an operation was performed in the hope of saving her life. She failed to respond, however, and passed away at five o’clock this morning.

Miss Cochrane, who was born in New Jersey, was a member of one of the best known pioneer families in the county. She was a graduate of the San Rafael schools.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Adams of San Rafael and Mrs. Kate Dowd of San Francisco, and a brother, John T. Cochrane, also of San Rafael. The late M. F. Cochrane who as editor of the Independent was known all over the state, was a brother of Miss Cochrane as were James W. and P. H. Cochrane. The late Mrs. William Byrnes and Mrs. Conrad Pretzel were sisters
