Col. Jos. Williams, Civil Engineer, Dies Monday in Bay City
Col. Joseph W. Williams, aged 63, of Ross, chief engineer of the Western Pacific, died in a San Francisco hospital last Monday. The funeral was held in San Francisco Wednesday. He had been ill for a little over a week.
For a number of years, from 1908 to 1917, Mr. Williams was assistant in engineering staff of the Northwestern Pacific Company. He joined the overseas 18th Engineers and returned here in 1921 to become Chief Engineer for the NWP, and in a few years was appointed to a similar position with the Western Pacific. While active in Ross, he was a member of the Ross Sanitary Board.
Left to mourn his death is his wife, Mrs. Elsie H. Williams; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Loughery, Long Beach; a son, Joseph H. Williams, Ross, employed by the Marin Water District, and two grandchildren, Patricia and Bernice Williams, of Ross.
Mr. Williams was a native of Milan, Ohio, and had lived in Marin County about 30 years.
