The death of Mrs. Lorenzen from pneumonia on last Saturday under peculiarly distressing circumstances, has saddened the entire community. Mr. Lorenzen is miles from home on the high seas, en route to Chile, and word of his great loss cannot reach him until December or January. Meanwhile the five small children, the youngest of whom is a nine months old infant, are being cared for by the kind neighbors, who befriended Mrs. Lorenzen during her last illness. The funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on last Tuesday morning at Edenís undertaking parlors. Interment Tamalpais cemetery.

Sad Death At Corte Madera

Mrs. Freda Lorenzen died of pneumonia at her home in Corte Madera on Sunday, October 20th, age 31 years. She was entirely without means, and was trying to take care of five children, the eldest of whom was only nine years. The husband and father got employment on a ship ad sailed for Chile several months ago, leaving the family without a dollar. Whether he could have done any better is a question that requires more knowledge and investigation than the average citizen can boast. The woman, though generously helped by kind neighbors, lived hard, worked hard, and is said to have been insufficiently nourished. Meals that are gratuitously furnished by a neighborhood are likely to be sparce and irregular, and a mother will feed her children if she goes hungry herself.

The funeral services were conducted in Edenís undertaking parlors on Thursday morning by Rev. Clarence Herriot of Corte Madera, and the interment was in Mt. Tamalpais cemetery.

The orphans have been distributed among kind householders in Corte Madera. Mr. Lorenzen cannot be apprized of the death of his wife until he reaches Chile in November; he is due to return in April.
