Frances E. Ossman, long time Larkspur resident, died yesterday at her home at 8 LaRosa Way after a long illness. She was 78.
She was born in North Bloomfield, Nevada County, and came to the Bay Area as a child. She had lived in Marin County for 53 years.
Her late husband, Edwin P. Ossman, was an Army veteran of World War I, and she was past president of District 12 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and a charter member and past president of Tamalpais Post Auxiliary No. 72, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by three daughters, Audrey Shoneff of Stockton, Lois Stone of Huntington Beach, Los Angeles County and Beverly Stone of San Rafael; two sisters, Margaret Cahill of Larkspur and Mary Darcy of Concord; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Larkspur. Memorial service by the Tamalpais Post Auxiliary will be at 8 p.m. today at Williams and Heffernan Mortuary, San Rafael. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8:30 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno.
