Ex-Teacher Pearl Smith Dies In Home

Miss E. Pearl Smith, for 36 years a teacher at Tamalpais High School, died yesterday at her Mill Valley home, 27 Hillcrest avenue.

A teacher of oral English, speech and dramatics at Tam during her long service, she resigned early in February at the beginning of the current semester because of ill health.

Miss Smith came to Mill Valley in 1918 and went into the high school as a teacher in 1920. A graduate of the University of Michigan, she taught a year at Detroit, Mich., Technical High School before coming here.

A native of Michigan, she was 65 years old. She lived alone at her Hillcrest avenue home.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Ruby Smith Stahl of New York City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Russell and Gooch chapels, Mill Valley. Inurnment will be at Cypress Lawn.

Contributions to Red Cross preferred.
