Guiseppe Pagano, an early day San Anselmo rancher, died yesterday in a local convalescent hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 96.
Pagano, a native of Italy, came to this country in 1901. For 50 years he owned a ranch on the site of the present Brookside School, raising goats and chickens.
When the land was purchased by the school district, Pagano kept a lot and lived in a house at 8 Berkeley Avenue.
His wife, Maria, died in 1956, and his two children, Charles Pagano and Maria Bianchini, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sister, Angelina Sinelli of San Francisco; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Raphaelís Church in San Rafael. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Keatonís Mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
